Some one we loved and respected years ago sang from the heart
and I quote:
”You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one… (taken from Imagine by John Lennon).
My dream
My name is Laurene Omedal and I am one of those dreamers who are doing what they can to make peace more of a reality
and I believe that we can create peace in our world. In fact I have no doubt that one day there will be peace.
It is becoming more and more apparent to me that we all want it and only a small group of unhappy misguided people
think they don’t. So in the tradition of that wonderful song I quoted above
I am about to do my bit to make the world a little bit better and closer to the large goal of peace in our world.

With the help of some great people including Sam Burke who created the hook ”if I believe” which became the name of our song and Steve Leigh who created the score and together we came up with exciting harmonies Then My Palestinian friend Riyad created some Arabic words which will be used in the future when I teach the song to the Israeli and Palestinian children. So many amazing people have come into my life in last few years that have helped and our now developing this song with me and I will mention them as we go along.
The song, If I believe.
If I Believe is the song that I intend to get to number 1 in the charts here in the Uk and over seas, to show the world that we all want to get on together and that we have had enough of the negative destructive killings and pain in our world. The hit song I create will be sung by a professional singer (at this moment we have Robert Allen who was in the X factor as our lead vocalist, so keep tuned in so to speak) and the rest of the harmonies and chanting in the middle bit”Parents Teachers Listen to us kids no more pain and no more tears Parents teachers listen to us kids peace and love is where it is” Will be sung and shouted out loud by the kids who are taking part in the song from all over the Uk and the world. Once the kids are recorded, they are added to the rest of the kids and by the magic of modern technology a huge song with lots of wonderful harmonies is created in the studio.

The Work so far:
I am very happy to announce that we have recorded about 400 children last year and we are growing. Children from Bucks Middx and London as well as other areas of the country and the world are learning the song and will be recorded by the end of the year. They are coming from schools, community groups and religious organizations that are supporting this project
Working with Lauren
The children of Claytons Primary School were delighted to have the opportunity to work with a professional singer as part of an exciting project to unite the voices of many thousands of children to spread the message of the need for peace world-wide. The song that they had to learn was a demanding one and initially Lauren came to teach the choir some of the more complex parts of the song that could then be mixed with the voices of children from other schools as part of an organic whole.
It was an invaluable experience for the children in the choir to work intensely at parts of a song in this way. Their concentration could be palpably felt when it came to the actual recording when they had to synchronise their singing with a backing track that only Lauren could hear. After sufficient rehearsal however and with Lauren’s encouragement and enthusiasm to guide them they were spot on.
It was also so good that the music has been composed in a way that every single child in the school could contribute a simple chat regardless of ability or age. We all wish this inspired project every success. Music can achieve things that the world leaders don’t seem to be able to and it seems to be left to the likes of Lauren and in another field, Daniel Barenboim to show that Music has the power to break down the human imposed barriers that separate people by race and creed.
Future Plans:
To involve the kids of the middle east in this song i.e. the Israeli and Palestinian kids so that we can get the message out there to promote peace.
To make sure that every media station in the world knows about this song and is interested in how to promote it and the powers to be start to take peace seriously and respect the views of every man woman and child on our planet
Then getting the song done as a video and then promoting it via this website and downloads to the big goal of a number 1 in the charts
50 percent of the money we raise from the song will go towards peace and interfaith causes and to building an arts centre in the middle east for Palestinian children where they can study music, arts drama and life skills.
References
Children having the opportunity to work with a professional singer, especially one so committed to both her art and the cause that she is so passionately working for is very special indeed. Lauren just knows how to get the very best out of children and to get them to sing their hearts out. She is able to get children who are enthusiastic but not necessarily trained singers to work to a high standard of co-operation and musical quality. I would recommend wholeheartedly that all schools get on board with this one and sing in the cause of Peace.
